After we got home from the hospital we started a whirlwind week of chaotic excitement. We had between 8-11 people in our little tiny apartment all week long. It was a blast to have so much family around and fun to share such a special time with so many people that we love so dearly. It was exhausting though and I am excited to have a little quiet time in our home for the next few weeks.
My parents and sister and niece stayed in a nearby extended stay room so they were here all the time that they weren’t sleeping. Brett LOVES his cousin Kaity and although it was rough to learn to share his toys and space with her, I think he did remarkably well considering all the craziness on top of a new baby. Kaity was an awesome cousin and was so nice and helpful to Brett! They wanted to do everything together all week long and they would cry when they had to part.
On Monday morning, Alana needed to go to the doctors so Sean, Brett, Alana, and I headed out for our first adventure as a family of 4. It took way longer to get out of the house than it used to, but hopefully we will adjust soon. Lana is healthy and strong weighing in at 7 lbs 8 oz. The doctor was impressed and assumed my milk had come in. It hadn’t and we had just been supplementing with formula. What a difference it makes to just give a baby food when they want to eat. My milk has come in faster this time than with Brett but it still took about 5 days!
Brett wanted to wear his tail to the doctors office.
All ready to go:
Lana’s pack-n-play all set up.
Changing table in our room for middle of the night feedings.
Brett and Kaity helped me put some vinyl stickers above Alana’s bed.
My mom wanted to hold Alana all week long and I think she may have had the most time of anyone.
On Tuesday we tried to do a newborn photo session first thing. Our house was too chaotic and Alana was cranky so my dear friend Evelyn said she would come back in the evening. Our little lady looked adorable sporting her first pair of jeans and some itty bitty Uggs.
We tried to recreate this picture of Brett:
It didn’t work:
Kaity loved holding Alana! She is so excited to finally have a girl cousin!
On Wednesday, we went to Old Town. Sean tried out the new double stroller. It worked great! Brian and Mom and Dad P. came too!
Lady Lana kept warm in her carseat=)
We tried to get a picture of my parents with their 3 grandkids, It’s amazing we got this one!
This picture describes the moment a bit better:
Papa P. custom designed this onesie for Lana:
My parents brought the Rudolph movie with the Island of Misfit Toys and some presents to go along with it. They watched the movie first then pulled out some really cute boxes mailed from the North Pole. Brett and Kaity each got a box and inside there was an adorable book about toys that aren’t quite right and need a special home. Brett and Kaity both got these adorable little dogs that are only spotted half way. Kaity named hers Shawley and Brett (loving Daniel Tiger) named his Tigey. They both love these little dogs. Its so fun to see Brett doing some more imaginary play.
