June and pre-Trek

 The girls and I snuggling one night. It was hard to have school go for the first week of June this year. It felt really long! 

Alana had a fun jammies, blankets, and forts day at school where they got to read and eat snacks. 

Sean made me 16 turtles for my students:

Brett went on a hike with the young men up potato hill. There were so many beautiful views of the temple and he got some amazing shots! 

Alana gave Oreo her yellow bandana and he looks so cute in it!

As soon as school ended we started buying food for Trek. We had a $10,000 budget and got the food from several different places. We got a huge order of restaurant supply type stuff from US Foods. We got lots of chips, juices, produce, bakery items, etc from Costco. We got muffins, hostess snacks, brownies, and yogurt from Sam's club, and we got the rest of the odds and ends (including soda, marshmallows, and chocolate bars) from Walmart. I also ordered several things on Amazon. 

On the last day of school I took the girls to get frozen yogurt, then we went to Deseret Industries to look for pioneer clothes. 

Sean challenged the kids to make a drying rack for our blender. This was Alana's design.

Sean had his yearly in person meeting for Cambia. He flew to Seattle and had his meeting in the conference room at the airport. They finished early so he just had to hang out in the airport til his flight was ready. 

Alana and Lizzie both earned the Puma Pride award at school. 

Our Stake put together a huge primary activity day camp for the day after school got out. I took Lizzie and her friends Amy and Olive so they could be together. They had so many activities and the kids had a great time. I volunteered and got to help with the dunk tank. 

So much food. 

We were mostly able to store food in our garage at first, but as the days went on and we got more perishable stuff it had to go in the house. 

We took a few trips to the library and all the kids have been loving reading. 

Alana, Lizzie, and I went to the splash pad park with Kari, Grace, and Graham, 

The huge US foods order came in about 6 days before we left. It had all our meat and needed to be frozen and refrigerated. I met Kristi down in Orem where the food was delivered and we filled up her truck and the back of my van. 

We stored most of the bread in my basement, the apples and carrots at Kristie's and then all the rest of the food in various fridges and freezers at the church buildings and at the members of our committee's houses. One miracle was having Tom Hartley (one of the company captains) have two deep freezes completely empty! 

Fathers Day was lovely and we took a picture of Sean wearing one of Darrell's ties. 

We made egg rolls and cream cheese wontons for dinner. Mom and Dad Z came over. Mom P went to Hawaii to vacation with Brandon and Michal's family. 

We left for Trek on Wednesday. Monday Sean and I went to costco to buy all the hot dog buns, bagels, cantelopes, and  half the watermelons. We discovered that half of our liquid eggs had been removed from the fridge in one of the church houses so it was decided that I would go to the giant business center Costco in hopes of finding more liquid eggs. So on Tuesday morning, the kids helped me make an epic trip to Costco. We got three carts and filled them to the brim with all the perishable stuff. I spent the rest of the day gathering food from all the different places and loading my van up 4 times to take all the food to the stake center. After we got it all there, the refrigerated truck was delivered and we were able to start loading it up. It was a miracle it all fit!! Here's Kristi and I and then a picture of our committee. 

We bought 20 cantelope, 30 watermelon, 15 tubs of grapes, and so many more foods!! 

Lizzie has been taking Viola lessons.

Tuesday was a bit insane as we got ready. I spent several hours moving food from our house to the stake center and gathering food from the other building. While I was doing that, when Sean got off work he went to take Oreo to the pet hotel. He also needed to pick up Brett from his friend Cadee's house. When Sean dropped off Oreo they said he wasn't up to date on his vaccines! So they couldn't take him! Shoot! Not only did we have a temperamental dog with no place to put him, but Sean spent 2 hours in rush hour traffic when he had a million other things to do. I called my Dad and both my Mom and Dad were so kind and willing to take Oreo. We have been nervous in the past because Oreo is so high energy, but he did SOOOO good at their house. He wrestled with Winston, snuggled to Grandma and Grandpa, ate lots of dog bones, and lived his best life! We were so grateful for their last minute willingness to watch him. After getting the trailers loaded, getting all our gear dropped off, making lunches and filling up waters, we were finally able to sleep before the big trek!
