Apartment Hunting, Graduation, and Easter

Lots has been happening in our family lately. It’s funny that the times you have lots to blog about, you have no time to actually do it so I apologize for the super long post about to come.

Two weeks ago for I had a week off from Kindergarten for Spring Break. It was Sean’s last week of class so we were able to leave on Wednesday afternoon for a marathon weekend of apartment shopping and preparing for a move to Albuquerque. We had to change our car registration and Sean’s driver’s license to New Mexico so we qualify for in-state tuition (17,000 per year instead of 47,000). Thursday morning we got that all changed over and got a new turquoise license plate for Captain Jack. We also got to spend an hour or so with Sean’s amazing piano teacher Lynn. She is moving to Colorado right as we move to New Mexico which is rather unfortunate. She gave us the most adorable beanie hat for Brett that has piano keys on it. Friday, Mom P. accompanied us to Albuquerque where we looked at lots and lots of apartments and met with a financial advisor to see how much we will be able to afford. The apartment we liked the most had everything we could ever want and even had a reasonable price, but it’s too far from campus for Sean to bike (which he really wants to do). If all works out we will likely live where Sean’s brother and sister-in-law lived when they were in school there. Its a great deal so I hope it works out. Saturday was UNM’s Second Look Day. It was a great event where they gave us breakfast, lunch, and tons of information about school and what it will be like to be part of the medical school there. I was especially excited to be there and see what Sean will be doing for the next four years. Sunday we packed up the car and drove home since I had to be back to work on Monday and Sean had a 7AM final.

After a grueling week of finals and papers and a thousand other odd jobs for Sean, we made it to Thursday when Sean would finally get a bachelor’s degree=) Mom and Dad P. and Brian came from New Mexico, Uncle Dale came from Colorado, and Mom and Dad Z took time off to celebrate. Sean looked fantastic in his cap and gown and we got a ton of great pictures.








Friday we had an ultra sound which was a little disappointing. The doctor didn’t take much time to let us watch Brett and his technology was a little old compared to the 16 week ultrasound so I couldn’t really see what he was even showing us. Baby Brett was being modest and had his feet straight up in the air so the doctor said he would guess it was a girl (only because he couldn’t see anything) but he wants to do another ultrasound in a couple months to see. Still, everything looked healthy, which is what is most important after all. I am pretty positive our little guy is boy especially considering the last ultrasound was very clear about his gender. It would be funny though to see Brett come out and be a Sophia. We will be thrilled with whatever we get=)

I loved the picture of his little face, he is seriously the cutest baby in the world!

On Saturday, Momma Jo Z through a fantastic BBQ in honor of Sean. We had delicious dinner of potatoes, rolls, chicken, chips, salad, and chocolate cake. We even had an Easter Egg hunt for Kaity and Dale’s kids.
