Road Trip

Merry Christmas!! This is not my Christmas post and rest assured I took tons of ADORABLE pictures to share, but those will come later=)

It was our year to go to Utah and Sean had his finals on Tuesday and Wednesday. We were invited to a wedding on Thursday for one of Sean's classmates and thought we'd like to go to that so the plan was to leave Friday morning at 4 AM so Mr. Brett could sleep through half the trip. The wedding was beautiful and was the first Catholic wedding we have ever been to. It was interesting to hear the words they used in the ceremony and lots of fun to see a beautiful bride and groom. I was reminded of my own wedding and the wonderful promise of eternity (among other promises) found in the Temple. Mr. Brett stayed with my friend Sam during the ceremony then we hung out with him until the reception at 5:00. It was the first time Brett has stayed with anyone but grandparents and he did great, I did okay too=) The reception was super fancy with cocktail hour and four courses. We had to leave before dessert which was sad since it sounded tasty.

We went home and packed away, then we set our alarm for 3:30 AM. The following morning we were on the road by 4:30 AM. By 5 we had found our first closed road and by 5:30 we were back at home since all the roads leaving Albuquerque were closed including the ones going South. It was incredibly frustrating considering there was NO snow on the ground at our house. They finally opened the roads at 11:00 AM and we left right away. We drove and drove and drove and Mr. Brett did so good. Barring 2 meltdowns and a shady gas station in Dove Creek we arrived safely in Utah around midnight on Friday, just in time to celebrate Christmas Eve.

It was the most magical Christmas we have ever had, Brett had a great time and we were so gratful to think of our Savior and the amazing gift he has given us. I am so happy to have grown up knowing the Jesus Christ is the Son of God and I feel so blessed to have been given the tools and guidance to have Sean and Brett today. Merry Christmas!!!
