Last week we got news that Sean’s grandmother, who we call Mer, had a blood clot and was placed in the hospital. Mom and Dad P went to El Paso to see her and take care of getting her old apartment at an assisted living center all packed up. She is almost 89 and has gotten to frail to care for herself there anymore so Mom and Dad were also shopping around for a nursing home for her to stay in. They found a great place that is close to Sean’s uncle Floyd. Floyd visits Mer almost every day and will be able to continue to do that in her new home. Since Sean is still doing his clinic half weeks, we decided to go down and see Mer. We left on Friday morning and got there about 10 AM, its only a 4.5 hour drive. We went to the hospital and got to visit with Mer for a few minutes, then they moved her in an ambulance to the nursing home. It was a lot nicer to be in the nursing home because Brett was allowed to go see her. She gave some fun jaunty waves to Brett and Sean. She was really confused and thought she was still in the hospital, it will be nice when they get her room all set up with pictures on the walls and such so it feels more like home. Brett gave Mer lots of big smiles and played peek-a-boo with her over the edge of the bed. Mer seemed to be really with it on Saturday when we were leaving. We got to have a great conversation with her and thank her for helping pay for Sean’s LASIK. She really seemed to understand the whole conversation which was really nice. Here is Brett with his walking shoes on:
