Grandma and Grandpa Z came to visit for the weekend and we had tons of fun. The blow-up mattress was an adventure, but after two nights of re-inflation and two patches, it worked great=)
My mom works for the zoo so she was able to get us some free tickets to go to the zoo down here. Sean had to go to school that morning but we met him on campus after the zoo for lunch. There was a really cool bird feeding exhibit at the zoo. We had to pay two dollars and got to have a little cup of food. The birds landed all over us and especially liked my Dad’s hat.
This is the concert stage that Sean performed the Saint-Saens Concerto on with the New Mexico Symphony.
Brett walked around the whole zoo, holding onto our hands for balance so he was exhausted and fell immediately asleep in the car.
On Friday my mom taught us how to can salsa. It was a lot of work to cut up all those veggies, but the salsa turned out so good! We made close to 50 jars! I was really excited to learn how to can food too! Sean and my dad are wearing gloves in this picture because they didn’t want to burn their hands with all the peppers. We, of course, added some New Mexican green chili.
On Friday night we went to a favorite restaurant called Sadies. I wanted to take my parents to Wecks on Saturday, but we were so full from dinner the night before we couldn’t stuff in more food, so we’ll save that one for next time. We went to Kohls to get some new clothes for my mom and then we went to Trader Joes since they are building one in Salt Lake and my mom wanted to scope out the goods. Brett got some stickers there.
On Saturday afternoon Brett took a nap, Mom and Dad Z went grocery shopping and Sean and I decorated cakes. I made my mom’s and Sean did Brett’s. They were both marble and both delicious!
Mom and Dad P arrived and we had cake for an afternoon snack. Brett was so funny, he loved the little mater on his cake and almost threw his cake on the floor to get it out of the way so he could “drive” . We showed him that it was food and he eventually got into it, although he wanted some applesauce to go with it.
Mom Z’s birthday is next weekend so we sang to her as well and made her wear a hat=)
Brett got tons more toys. He got a puzzle, some little people super heroes, two outfits, and a quite book from Grandma and Grandpa Z and a mailbox, a church outfit with tie, finger puppets, and a Cars book from Grandma and Grandpa P. He is pretty much in heaven!
Here are the birthday party guests:
Sunday morning we got up and went to our ward in Albuquerque. We were actually ready a little early for a change so Brett and Sean went out walking in their church clothes.
We went up to White Rock on Sunday afternoon for some visiting and star gazing. They have some pretty sweet zero gravity chairs there.
It was a fantastic and busy week. Sean’s Grandmother, who we call Mer, passed away last week so we are making a whirlwind trip to El Paso to go to the funeral. We’ll go there and back in one day which may be exhausting!

It was so fun to have Matt and Peggy around! Those salsa ingredients look so fresh and delicious--thanks for sharing some bottles with us! Yay for anti-gravity chairs! love, mom p
