Christmas 2013!

What a great Christmas we had! Brett was really understanding about Santa Clause and presents. We had a great time shopping for him and planning out what Santa will be like in our family. One of my favorite moments was when Sean, Brett, Alana, and I went grocery shopping for the week and we saw some cool cars that Brett really liked. We told him he would have to ask Santa and then Sean and him walked off to the deli counter. I put the car in the cart. When we were checking out the cashier held up the car and Brett of course wanted it! Sean told the cashier to put it away quickly and then told Brett that Santa took it. Brett then spent the day (Dec 23) saying “Santa, where are you?” Then when people would ask him what he wanted from Santa he told them he wanted that car. It was so cute!

We went a visited our good friend Mikey and her cute girls on Christmas Eve morning. Brett had a great time playing in their new house and chasing their 2 year old Mia around. Alana and 2 month old Reese also got along quite nicely. Mikey and I daydreamed about living close enough to share workouts and playdates again=)

Its a tradition in my family to have Christmas Eve at my Grandma’s house. It’s actually one of my favorites. I used to feel like I could sit on the couch and watch my whole extended family come in and out throughout the night, kissing people I couldn’t even remember names of. The celebration is a lot smaller now, but just as wonderful.

Brett and Alana got to open their Christmas jammies at my Grandma’s house.

Brett got fire truck pi’s:

Alana got Reindeer ones (which I had to buy the week before and keep the tags on in case she grew because the ones we had were 0-3 month and they were huge on her):

Grandma got a Kindle Fire for Christmas, she was unsure at first but is loving it now.

Brett and I made chocolate chip cookies for Santa and decided that he should get some chocolate milk to go with them, Brett was thrilled the next morning after Santa came to see that they were all gone and there was a note from Santa.

The family room was bursting with Christmas presents after Santa came (most of the presents were for Brett which is what you get when you spend Christmas with both sets of grandparents!)

On Christmas morning the first thing we had to do was wake up Papa Mustache=)

Then we had to wait for the grandma’s to finish making the yummy breakfast casserole, so we stood at the top of the stairs and sang a few Christmas songs with Elroy while we waited.

After checking out the santa cookie situation, Brett opened his stocking and was thrilled to find “lots lots lots lots treats!”

The little car from the grocery store was also in there and he was so excited.

One of the first gifts he opened was a doctor kit which he played with on Alana.

Papa Z helped Brett play with one of his power drill sets:

Alana enjoyed napping on Grandma Z:

Brett in his Christmas coma after opening tons of gifts. It took him till 8 PM to finish opening gifts because he would take breaks and play with all the toys as he opened them. Alana wasn’t in a picture taking mood.

Alana’s favorite part of Christmas was napping:

We got to go visit Uncle Brian and his family on Christmas afternoon which was a lot of fun (all those pics are on Sean’s phone). Pamela and Brett remain great friends!

We had a Christmas dinner of ham, rolls, sweet potatoes, and roasted potatoes and we finished it off with pecan pie-delicious!

  2. Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas! I like the idea of Santa leaving a note. My sister does that too and it's so cute to see how excited the kids get! ;)
