nearly 5000 miles in 2 weeks! Part 4

We were super excited to celebrate the 4th of July in Utah with Sam, Jared, Kaity, my parents, and Grandma Z this year. Sam told me when we were still in Boise that Kaity had a deep desire to have a lemonade stand. So we went to work to make it happen. I bought refrigerated dough and country time lemonade at the grocery store and on the morning of the 4th, the kids and I got to work. We made cookies, set up the table, found a suitable jar, made a poster, and put out balloons. I had advertised to friends and family over Facebook hoping to round up some business for our cuties =)

Alana was dressed to the nines in her 4th of July gear and Brett and Kaity were sporting some awesome Disney Patriotic shirts too.

Here was our very first customer. It was an awesome lady who stopped to contribute to the cause. The kids were absolutely giddy! We had a few neighbors come by and the kids were so excited. We also bought and ate lots of cookies =)

Since the kids earned money (a first for Mr. Brett) Sam taught them about tithing. I don’t think Brett understood at all, but he was excited to go give it to the bishop last Sunday.

After lunch, everyone took naps except us =( We decided to go on a drive so our kids could sleep in the car and we ended up in Provo. We saw the construction on the new temple and took pics of our old apartments and the ones Mom and Dad P, Sam and Jared, and John and Allie Jeppson lived in.

They built a new splash pad in the Pioneer Park so we stopped to take a look. Brett didn’t like it too much because it was so hot and so crowded. They have made a lot of improvements to the Provo area since we left. IMG_1350-2014-07-23-21-03.JPG

We did fireworks, but they scared poor Brett. He wanted to watch from inside. But then he got brave again and decided to come out and plug his ears.

I forgot to mention that we had some delicious BBQ ribs and yummy peach cobbler. It was a fantastic 4th of July. I am so grateful to live in this wonderful country where we have so many freedoms. Brett loved the American Flag and it was fun teaching him more about what the holiday means this year.
