Graduation and Moving Day

I already shared lots of pictures on Facebook, but will include them here anyway =) Graduation Day was very very busy! Sean and his dad had to be to the Albuquerque convention center at 7 AM and the rest of us needed to be there at 8 AM for the ceremony. The ceremony was really nice. Sean got to give an award to one of the professors and he gave a wonderful speech. Alana sat on Mimi’s lap for most of the ceremony having a great time. Brett really struggled. I think he though he was going to get to be with Sean and was sad we weren’t sitting by him and that we couldn’t see him. I walked with Brett for a bit and stood in the back. We got to see Sean’s speech as well as his hooding, then my dad took Brett to run in the halls. I need to invest in some headphones. I had my phone with games for him to play but he wanted the music and we couldn’t turn it up during the ceremony. After all of that we met in a huge reception room where we took pictures and chatted for awhile. After that we went to Weck’s for lunch. It was absolutely delicious as always =)

After lunch it was time to start packing up the truck. Brian and Sean went up to the Uhaul to get the truck and my Dad and I started taking things down and getting things ready. Sean and Brian came back with the truck around the same time all the moving help showed up. We had so many wonderful people come and help us load up the truck and clean. Mom and Dad P took the kids up to White Rock which really helped things move faster, the kids had a lot of fun and didn’t have to stay and stress and we completely tore apart their home. As the truck got more and more full, I started to realize there was no way all of our stuff was fitting in it. I was so grateful we had sold our washer and dryer, couch, and freezer because there was no way they would have fit. We ended up leaving behind 2 chairs, our table, our outdoor storage cupboard, balls, toy kitchen, all our food storage buckets, all the cleaning supplies, a bookshelf, and tons of other odds and ends. We were actually so short on space that we thought we would need to drive the 1 1/2 up to White Rock, unload a van and come back for some suitcases with clothes in them! Luckily, after we got our Mazda (Captn Jack) hitched up to the moving truck we were able to stuff the rest of the stuff inside the Mazda. It was a huge Tender Mercy among many other moving miracles that day! It was a really hard day, but we could see that God had really provided for us and helped things to go as smoothly as possible. Here are some pictures of our apartment as it was getting packed up:

After the moving truck got there Brett, Alana, and Cam wanted to check out the inside:

Brian and Sean showing off their muscles after finishing packing up the mazda. Notice our bikes wouldn’t even fit so we had to put them on the bike carrier on the back of the car.

My parents were a huge help with the packing and cleaning. My dad was the Tetris master with fitting as much as possible into that truck. We had a quick inspection with the office where she told me the apartment looked wonderful and very clean (which was nice to hear since we worked so hard in the weeks and days leading up to the move).

We arrived in White Rock that night very tired and dreading the drive the next day, but we were so thankful for all the help we had received!
