Christmas Adam and Eve 2018

The Saturday before Christmas was Mom Peterson's piano recital. We drove down to the gallery where it was held and really enjoyed all the beautiful music. She did such an amazing job and had practiced so so hard. Dad Peterson had gotten walking pneumonia so he wasn't feeling very good but he was there to support Mom. After the recital we went across the street to the Scera theater where Mom and Dad P's real estate company had bought out the theater for the showing of Mary Poppins Returns. There was free water and candy and we had a fantastic time. The movie was darling and even though it was long the kids sat really well and it was easy to get up for bathroom breaks. After the movie, Brett asked Rebecca if we could come over =) Rebecca said yes and we all went to hang out at their house. Dinner time came and we got some Wallaby's take out. After dinner and playing we headed home.
Lizzie was hilarious coloring with her winter hat at the recital!

Lizzie and I did lots of snuggling during the movie

Kaden taught us that the day before Christmas Eve is Christmas Adam =) On Christmas Adam we had a lovely Christmas service. Sean played some beautiful piano for the Ward Choir. He is a little bummed about being called as pianist again because he really wants to sing in Choir, but he is excited to hopefully arrange some pieces in the coming year. It was nice to only have Sacrament meeting and then head home to spend time with family. We invited family over to have hamburgers and decorate sugar cookies. Mom and Dad Z came and Neil and Rebecca and Kaden and Lexi came. Mom and Dad P were both down with sickness and also getting things all set up for Christmas Eve dinner at their house. Right after church before our guests arrived the kids helped us cut out cookies and bake them. Sean and I got the frosting all ready. Everyone arrived about 3 and we decorated cookies. The kids lasted for about 15 minutes and then Sean, Rebecca, and I decorated the rest while all the kids went and played. After the cookies were all done, the kids, Neil and I went to deliver some to the firefighters in our neighborhood while Sean got to barbecuing the burgers. We had a fun, casual dinner, and just visited. We played a fun mining game that Dad P bought.

Pecksy was checking out the presents

We woke up on Christmas Eve and Alana was feeling really sad. We talked to her about how sometimes you can feel sad even on holidays. She seemed to perk up as the morning went on. The kids opened their gifts to each other and they were all so excited. Brett gave Lizzie some Mickey and Minnie legos, and Alana a pancake art kit. Alana gave Brett a spinjitsu and Lizzie a playdough set, and Lizzie got Alana a horse with stable and Brett a beanie boo. They were all so excited to give each other the gifts they had picked out!

We got dressed and then headed to Noodles and Company for lunch then down to Papa and Mimi's. Sean and the kids headed downstairs to play right away and I tried to help Mom in the kitchen. All the food was delicious and everything looked so festive!

After dinner we visited then went down and played tetris for a little bit =) We got the kids in their costumes and started the nativity play. Alana was so excited to be Mary and I loved hearing both Brett and Alana sing out the Christmas songs, especially Angels We Have Heard on High because they learned that one in primary. Lizzie had a stomach ache and didn't really want to dress up, so she mostly snuggled with me.

After the play I had my kids open their pajamas, I felt dumb that I didn't even think to make them for Kaden and Lexi! Next year...

We got in the car and looked at some lights and then headed home. When we got home the kids got the cookies and milk and carrots ready. Brett wanted to make strawberry milk and put a blanket on the table. Alana made a beautiful picture for Santa and helped pick the cookies. Lizzie also helped pick the cookies. The kids even posed for a picture by the tree in their Christmas jammies.

The kids went right to sleep and told us to get to bed too =)
