On Tuesday morning we woke up to a pretty drizzly fall day. I exercised on the elliptical and took pictures of the cute squirrels all over the place. We drove over to Sams and had a pretty lazy day. We played games, the kids did crafts, I took a nap, we told Sam and Jared Happy Anniversary and we watched some of the election results come in. Sam and Jared wanted Lebanese food for dinner so we ordered from a local place and the food was delicious. The kids did a gem digging thing that I found at Target where you have to dig a gem out of a block of sand. The box advertised the some of the boxes contain actual diamonds, rubies, or sapphires. Lizzie's actually had a little diamond in it! The other kids weren't so lucky. Lizzie spent the day trying to play with poor Lily, but poor puppy isn't used to a 4 ear old. Aunt Sam even let the kids eat pizza on the couch!

On Wednesday we did our family pictures. I took them with the tripod and remote and it was frustrating to look at them after and see things I would have wanted to change in the moment but couldn't see. They turned out pretty good though and i'm so glad we have the memories. Its not very often that all the Zaelit/Brown/Petersons get together. Brett didn't eat breakfast and we didn't get around to the pictures till nearly lunch time so he was a bit of a mess. It was also just stressful to not know what is expected and the kids don't find it nearly as fun to have mom take their pictures as the cool people at fotofly. After family pictures we went to Red Robin for lunch and everything was delicious. We had to wait quite a while to get a table that we could all sit at because of the capacity restrictions of covid. It was yummy though. After lunch we went back to Sams and hung out for the rest of the afternoon evening. Alana played with the guinea pig so much! She wanted one for her birthday and we seriously considered it, but I'm not ready for another pet right now and I would worry that Mr. Oreo would eat the guinea pic, lol!
On Thursday morning we planned to leave at 5 AM. We were all packed and ready to caravan with Mom and Dad. When Mom and Dad arrived at the hotel they told us that Jared needed a blessing (Jareds brother Matt was in the ICU in Portugal with Covid and his parents both had Covid in Idaho and he had been furloughed from work because of Covid) so we needed to backtrack to Sams to give a blessing. It really helped him and we were so glad to be able to help. We also were still able to get through Portland ahead of traffic. We made good time, but at one point when I was driving behind my dad I noticed something hanging down from his car. We stopped to check it out and the people who had done his oil change before leaving Utah hadn't screwed back in a piece underneath. We stopped in a town and checked with a mechanic. He said it would take 2 hours to get us in. So Dad dropped us all off at a DQ and we got lunch while he took the car to the Ford Dealership. When he got there apparently the dealership had moved 40 miles away, but the guy there was happy to screw it back in. He fixed it really quick charged my Dad ten bucks and we were back on the road. We had a good trip back although the kids got pretty tired of being in the car. None of them really got back to sleep after we got them up at 5 AM and we didn't split the drive into two days like on the way there. They watched Trolls 2 so many times on the trip and were super into different kinds of music so we played a game where I played all kinds of different songs from Elvis to Donna Lewis and they had to pick what type of music it was. We watched birthday movies and chatted about memories of the kids when they were little. We made it back to the Petsmart just before they closed and picked up our sweet puppy. He was so happy to see us and we were so so happy to see him. Its funny how he completes our family! They gave us a little report card of how he did and he had a great time!
