We started October with general conference which was so wonderful! We watched Saturday morning session at our house. We went to my parents house to help paint and do yard work during afternoon. And then came back home for the Saturday evening. Sunday we spent all day at home and Mom P joined us for afternoon session. It really was just a wonderful conference all around!
Brett had some pretty impressive bruising from practicing so much self defense in martial arts.

Our school hosts a grandparents day for the third graders every year. Alana was in heaven with three grandparents completely focused on her! They had a great time doing crafts, filling our interviews, and shopping at the book fair.
Our grandparents went home before lunch and lots of the grandparents stayed so Alana asked me to come have lunch with her. I was just working on a project not teaching small groups, so I could step away. It was lovely to hang with her!
Papa would have turned 70 this October! We celebrated him by sharing pictures through text, calling mom, and eating at the Old Spaghetti Factory all together. We all miss him so much, but we are so so glad that he is not suffering and we know he is working hard in heaven.
Last year when we needed to cancel our Disneyland vacation, we decided to splurge at Cornbellys. It was so much fun that we decided it needs to be a yearly thing! We had so much fun and spent about 9 hours there! There was still more we wanted to do!
Brett somehow remembered that I had done this ride with him last year. So I did it with him. It was awful!! We just kept going around and around and I thought it would never end...haha! It was fun to do with Brett though! Brett also wanted me to go in a few haunted houses with him. They were pretty tame and still not my thing, but fun to do with him.
The highlight last year was the bungee trampolines and the kids couldn't wait to do it again this year!
I love how many fun little games and playgrounds there are for the kids to play on. You are never bored!

Sean and I sat and ate cinnamon roasted almonds while the kids played in the giant corn beach.
The bubble barns were all over too and so fun to make huge bubbles!
Obstacle courses, toy frog racing, funnel cakes, cotton candy, corn maze, and tractor rides. Oh also the random live duck races!
As we were getting ready to leave we ran into my cousin Coulton and his wife Kate and son James. James was adamant that he hang out with Sean! He was giddy to be held and was sad when he had to go back to his parents.
I saved cardboard boxes the other day so that the kids could craft on a Friday afternoon. Brett made a stuffed animal school. Alana and Lizzie made stuffed animal schools too and school busses =)
Brett picked this Halloween costume and was very excited when it came.

Lemon really likes to curl up to sleep. One night she chose her food dish to curl up in.
Uncle Dale was in town and we had a picnic with Neil and Rebecca, Brian and Jill, Heather and Cory, Matt and Mary, Barbara, and Mom P. It was lovely to join together and just play at the park.
I gave Brett a hair cut and gave him three style options. He chose the third picture:

Lizzie learned about bats one day. Her handwriting has really improved in first grade.
This past week was red ribbon week and the school had an assembly with the K-9 police units. They brought several dogs and showed the kids how the dogs attack a person when the police need them too. I got to watch and it was so scary and also cool. A police man dressed up in a super thick bite suit and then the dog just ran and attacked. The dogs were so proud of themselves for following directions and it always amazes me what dogs can be trained to do. They had a blood hound too and I got a picture of Lizzie petting it.
Alana was practicing her headstands last night!
In other great news, they were able to hire a permanent teacher for Brett's class. Her name is Mrs. Murry and she was a student teacher last year in the fifth grade and has been a long term sub in one of the other sixth grade classes this year. So she knows all the kids, she is young and cool and super nice. And she is strict and knows how to handle this kinda crazy group of kiddos. Brett is super excited!
