September

We started the month making the decision to get another bearded dragon. Brett was often feeling sad a discouraged that pirate was so lazy and pretty much always seemed on the brink of death. We have done so much research and have been rather confused that he is still alive based on his lethargy and lack of pooping! I messaged his previous owners and she told me that they rescued Pirate from a home where he was in a small cage with another fully grown aggressive male beardie. I think Pirate just turned off and got super lazy and slow. We decided that we want to keep Pirate and give him a good home, but that we Brett also wants one who eats and moves and such. Brett took all the money and gift cards he got for his birthday and bought a new beardie with a whole new cage. Originally I had said that he could put it in the same tank as the Lisa Falls lizards and we would either let the lizards go, or give them back to the Ellis family. Constance and Boba Fett were welcomed back to the Ellis families tanks and have stayed close and snuggly ever since. As we looked at our options for a new beardie, it became clear that the tank we had was too small and we decided to just buy the full size one that we will need when it is grown. Brett picked the cutest little guy and named him Dumbledore.

Over the last month we have learned that Pirate loves peppers the food, Pepper the dragon, sunshine, and sleeping.
The school throws a birthday bash each month for all the birthdays. I got to attend with Brett and it was a lot of fun!
Here's sweet Dumbledore:

Our apples became ripe and we made sooooo much apple pie filling! They were pretty tart, but tasted amazing in pie filling.
We had a very fun Memorial Day hike with our friends the Bakers. We went to Lisa Falls and Quarry ruins trail. It was incredibly beautiful and not too crowded. We were originally planning to go to Lisa Falls, but ended up switching trails. We brought donuts to eat on the trail though.

We celebrated my momma's birthday and gifted her a new Minky to snuggle with in her new basement.
We got Oreo some snuffle mats to help enrich his feeding times a bit. He likes them and also gets tired of them.
Pirate really liked Dumbledore and started moving more once another dragon was in the same room.
Cookie continues to be a sweetheart!
We also celebrated Xander's birthday with a Bluey party! It was so much fun!

I really loved little Dumbledore. Unfortunately the day after this picture was taken, Dumbledore suddenly died. We aren't really sure why, but it was so so sad and Brett was very upset.
We go through sooooo much paper and tape and its so fun!

Lizzie is obsessed with finding unusual food and asking me to take a picture of it. This is a multi colored fruit loop.

Dumbledore died on a Sunday, so Monday as soon as I got off work at 1:45 I checked Brett out of school. We took Dumbledore to the pet store and they said they had never heard about a dragon dying like that. It must have been a very unfortunate accident. We all sure loved Dumbledore though and we are so glad we got to have him for 2 weeks!
Brett picked a new citrus colored dragon and named her Lemon. She is much bigger than Dumbledore was so we are hoping that she would be more sturdy. She is crazy fast and active. Its actually hard to hold her because she jumps and runs so fast. She loves to burrow into things to sleep and she loves crickets and meal worms. She also LOVES basking. One of our favorite moments so far is when she did a very fun wave at Pirate. She is actually horrified of him and when a dragon waves it can be a sign of submission. But it was so cute!

We attended our schools Mexican Independence Day celebration. Lizzie was so so excited to see her teacher Mrs. Sobisky and her baby Noah. We love Mrs. Sobisky. She is a fantastic teacher and we feel so lucky that Lizzie is in her class! We also got to go out to dinner with Alana's teacher Mrs. Tuttle. She met us a noodles and company one night and it was so fun to get to know her better. Alana was in heaven getting to spend time with her teacher. We also just found out that Mrs. Tuttle is expecting a baby boy in February =) Alana is so excited about it!
Lego creations continue to be built!
We went on a hike to Lisa Falls with the Ellis family. We caught three new sage Lizards to add to their tank

We had an impromptu ice cream sundae night with the Ellis family. I had bought everything at the store earlier in the week and no one had discovered it yet, so we had lot of yummy ingredients!

A fun writing assignment Lizzie did at school. She says: My Pals name is Grace, my pal likes to clean (which is soooo not true, Grace often can't play because she hasn't done her chores), we like to play dragons on the tramp, my pal is nice.
Hi Lemon!!
One Saturday I went to a birthday party for Caiden Baker to help Tricia. Brett and I went to the party and Sean took Alana, Lizzie, and Rowan Baker on a hike. Peter also joined in since he was in town for the night.
Fun Restaurant design.
The kids watched a lot of Damation Street on Disney +
The birthday party I went to was a simulation at an elementary in Pleasant Grove. It was a two hour story and each of the kids had assignments. It was so fun and Brett can't wait to go back. I actually remember going to this program on a fieldtrip when I was in 6th grade. It was just in a classroom and I found it super stressful, lol!

Brett was Noah for singing Follow the Prophet at church.
Kaden came to meet Lemon.

Brett's teacher situation has been super rocky this year! His teacher was there for two days and then was out for 5 days with covid. He came back and taught for a week, then was gone for another week. The following week he resigned on Monday morning. We have no idea why, but it was pretty traumatic for the kids. Brett's class was in a portable, but the decision was made to move the kids back into the building. I volunteered on a Friday and helped clean out and move the zen zone to an office and then decorated the new 6th grade classroom a little. They were able hire a long term sub who will be there until fall break and then hopefully they will be able to find another long term sub or hire a permanent teacher. They have also started a rotation type of learning where they are rotating through the 4 sixth grade classes so each child is getting regular math, language arts, and science lessons from licensed teachers. I am so so impressed with how Brett has handled all the stress, change, and subs. He has kinda figured out that he just needs to do his own thing and let the rest of sixth grade be crazy! He is much happier now that he doesn't have a different sub everyday and is learning the actual curriculum. It also helps that he is not in the same class as the student who really bothered him last year.

Winston came to stay the night while my parents went to St George for a memorial service.

The kids played hair salon on Sunday morning and pulled sooo much hair out of Winston!
Bear and Goo got makeovers too:
We took Pirate outside after he hadn't pooped for over a month. This is one of the reasons we are sure he is about to die. After being on the lawn for just a few minutes he pooped!! Sometimes I wonder what has happened to my life that I am so excited and interested in the pooping habits of a bearded dragon! Pirate really like Nick's shoe. I think he liked the warmth. Eli also brought his dragon Pepper out and Pirate was doing some pretty impressive nodding and puffing to try and attract her =)

Bear and Goo were in a parade and needed to be dressed up in wedding clothes.
The school had a glow dance party and it was dark and loud. Alana wasn't impressed so we sat in the lobby and she went through my purse and found my glasses =)
