Great Wolf Lodge

We planned to do a little getaway trip this year before school started back in January. Sean and I decided we would do fewer Christmas gifts and do a trip instead. It was so so fun! We left early on New Years Day. I think we pulled away at 5 am for our 10 hour drive. The kids and I slept for a few hours while Sean drove. The drive was smooth and we hardly had to stop. The kids slept really good in the car! We stopped at Freddy's Frozen custard for lunch and enjoyed some delicious food! We had about 90 minutes left of the drive and I got a text from the Great Wolf Lodge saying that there was a fire alarm and everyone needed to evacuate. We were feeling grateful that we weren't there in the swimming pool, and also wondering what we would do if the lodge really was on fire. We got a text a little while later saying the fire department had cleared the lodge and they discovered that a child had pulled the alarm in the lobby. As we drove into the parking lot the fire truck was pulling out. We got all checked in around 3:30 and then changed into swimming things. After swimming we ordered a pizza and took it up to our room to eat. The kids wanted to explore a bit more. Sean was pretty tired from the early wake up but we all still went and did some magi quest. Alana went on the high ropes course and the rock climbing wall.

As we arrived Brett was finishing a virtual game of risk and he kept stopping as we were walking into the lodge to take his turn.
We thought this was fun!
Sleeping in the car!

The decorations were beautiful!

The drive was really pretty. We haven't been on a road trip for a while so it was fun to see so many little towns in Arizona and watch the landscape and weather change.

We spent two full days at the lodge. Day 1 we woke up and went down for breakfast. The breakfast was super yummy and Sean and I enjoyed the oatmeal and greek yogurt, tater tots, eggs, and breakfast quesadillas. The kids ate some pancakes and muffins and cinnamon rolls. We decided if we go back, we should just buy them dunkin donuts instead of the breakfast buffet haha! We did magi quest, then went swimming, then did ropes and rock wall. We also did the mirror maze and did some shopping. We ate ice cream cones, got candy cups, and played giant jenga. We all did some slides and Lizzie was super brave and went on two different ones!

The next day we went to breakfast, went swimming, went to the build a bear, played more jenga, swam outside did more slides, did the ropes course and the rock climbing wall again, played mini golf, and ate more ice cream and pizza.

We woke up and got on the road at 4 the next morning. The kids and I all fell asleep quickly and Sean drove for 3-4 hours before we woke up. We were all sad to leave, we had so much fun! The ride back was uneventful. There was a random outhouse in just the right spot for us which was a little miracle. We went straight to the Pet hotel to pick up Oreo who was a good boy and was so happy to see us! We arrived back home and did laundry, showered, unpacked, and got ready for church the next day. And then we jumped right back into school and work on Monday. The girls and I got matching "The Snuggle is Real" sweatshirts.

Alana got her primary advancement certificate and a necklace as she officially started Young Womens. She also got her temple recommend!
Our kids are super silly and ready to rock 2025!
