Disney World: Animal Kingdom

Sean and I remember loving Animal Kingdom both from the time we went together in 2011 as well as  the times I went when I was 9 and 11 years old. Alana and Lizzie have watched tons of Animal Kingdom shows about all the animals there on Disney + and they are obsessed with all things animal. We got there a little after the park opened to the public, so we missed our half hour early entry that day. We decided to get in line for the Avatar ride. It was about 100 minute wait, but the line kept moving and the queue was really cool. We tried discussing what it would be like to tax the rich to give to the poor and how that would work. We all loved the ride! It was kinda like Soarin with the big screen and moving simulator. You are riding a banshee though so you are in a riding stance. It was pretty spectacular. When we got off the ride we had a fast pass to Navi River Journey which is a river ride in Avatar land. It was really pretty and relaxing with some fun native type music. After the Navi River Journey we were all pretty hungry so we went to a restaurant in Avatar land. Brett, Sean and I got some fancy rice bowls with chicken, steak, and shrimp. Alana got a huge Pandora Pretzel that was bigger than her head. Lizzie got some ice cream =) We got two desserts to try and some fancy watermelon lemonade.

Lizzie got a banshee for her shoulder at the gift shop.

Our banana chocolate and blueberry lemon desserts.

Lizzie had a hidden Mickey in her henna.

After brunch we went to the Africa land to see the Feathered Friends in Flight show. It was amazing to see so many birds and see the amazing things they have been taught to do. Next we went to Kali River Rapids. We got all bundled up again with our shoe covers. The ride is shorter than the Grizzly one in California, but still a lot of fun!

Next we went through the Jungle Trek trail where we saw a kimodo dragon and zillions of little lizards, bats, and lots of exotic birds.

My parents lent us these cooling towels that really helped Lizzie cool off when it got hot.

After exploring the trail, we made our way over to the Festival of the Lion King show. It was so incredible with the acrobatic monkeys, the fire juggler, and the ballet dancing birds. The girls wanted frozen lemonade and Brett found a sweet shop where he got a caramel apple and I got an oatmeal raspberry bar. Sean got a churro.

Next we went on the Kilamanjaro Safari. This was a huge highlight for all of us. We loved riding through all the land and seeing so many beautiful creatures. Alana and Lizzie took charge of the cameras for this.

After the Safari we went on the Gorilla Hills trail. There were so many awesome animals. The most unexpected moment was when I was watching some Gorillas and three of them got in a huge fight and one kinda got chucked down a hill. It was short and crazy. But they were sure mad! No idea why.
We went to a place called pizzafari for dinner. They had yummy pasta and pizza. Sean went to find something from a food cart, but it was closed, so he went to the BBQ place. We went to Expedition Everest next and it was awesome!! So so good! It made Sean a little dizzy so the kids went one more time in the single rider line and then we all went to get some ice cream.

We wandered through some stores and got a magnet, some stickers, a pin, and a shirt for my sister. We went to the Zootopia show which was so fun and then we wanted to go on Kali River rapids one more time. As we walked up to the line at 7:04 they said it was closed. I was so bummed we hadn't gotten in the line 4 minutes earlier. The park didn't close til 8 so it was sad. Alana in particular was really sad. She had some tears and I told her how happy I was that she loved the Animal Kingdom so much. We really wished we would have had another day to go there again.

We headed back to the bus and got back to the hotel quickly. Sean and the girls swam again and then we all got showers and got to bed. Im not sure which nights it was but there were two nights that Brett woke Sean and I up in the middle of the night with his sleep talking. He has always been a sleep talker, but it never gets old. The first night he was laughing hysterically sitting up in bed and was saying "thats what I said!". We can't remember exactly what the other night was, but it might have been about a train.
