May included lots of fun end of year activities! Alana did a science fair project where she tested different cleaners on raw chicken and raw egg. One of the things we discovered is that raw chicken doesn't grow very well in a petrie dish, but swabs of teeth and the garbage can lid grow really well. In the end she discovered that all the cleaners we used worked well at killing bacteria.
I took a day off and went on a field trip with Lizzie to the conservation garden. We had fun learning about different plants and water cycles. The highlight was lunch and playing at a huge park for an hour.
Lizzie had her end of year choir concert and did an awesome job!
Sean and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary by doing sealings at the Draper Temple. Then we went to my parents house to help put in a new flower bed in their front yard.
The girls had so much fun just sitting on top of the car while we worked, lol!
I had some rewards points to spend at Petsmart so we sprung for this giant poofy pet bed for Oreo and he loves it!
Rebecca hosted a nice Mother's day dinner and the kids had a great time playing yard games! We all enjoyed chatting and spending time together!
Lizzie lost ANOTHER tooth and needed the wire cut again.
We started taking Oreo to the field behind our house and playing fetch with him. He LOVES it so much and loves to run. He can run so fast and will go for as long as we let him. Lizzie tries to chase the ball with him sometimes.
The girls had their orchestra concert at school and they both did such an amazing job! I am so amazed at how much they learn and what an amazing community the orchestra is for each of them!

Our Stake did a youth activity to hike to the Draper suspension bridge. None of the young men or young women leaders in our ward could go, so we took Brett and Alana and just joined in. It was a fun hike!
Brett had his band concert and did an amazing job on the saxophone. I don't have any still pictures of him. He was so awesome to jump in a learn a new instrument. He is excited to go back to playing flute though. He also finished his track season. He really improved throughout the season and enjoyed doing a 5 k with some of his team at the end. I was so proud to watch him run! He did his 5k in 21 min 12 seconds which is incredible to me, but I know he will just get faster and faster. When I dropped him off I stayed in the van to eat dinner and chill for awhile. I turned the engine off but left the key in the ignition and ended up killing the battery. I couldn't get our little battery to jump the car correctly, but a really nice guy came and helped me. The van started great after that and we haven't had any problems since.
Sean and I saw a giant snake on the trail one day while we were walking!
Once the girls were finished with choir and orchestra we could go a little later in the morning and they came to hang out in my classroom. For the last 26 days of school we did an abc countdown. The girls took turns writing on the board. Things like Robot Day or Watermelon Day. They helped with lots of little jobs.
On Memorial Day we painted the front hallway, the stairwell, and the guest bedroom at my parents house. It looks so nice and clean!
We did an undercover spirit week at school where the teachers had themed days but we didn't tell the kids or the administration. One day was mustache day and my favorite was how we were practicing all together for our end of year program and we kept telling the kids to calm down and not be silly, but we looked like this:
Alana helped with sports day as part of student council. They went and cheered on all the special needs kiddos and their buddies in the games. Alana also went to the temple with some friends and they went to Del Taco (which she called Big Fat Taco) to get ice cream after.
Alana did a program called Girls on the Run this year. Her friends grandma convinced her to do it and although it was a pretty good experience, Alana learned that she doesn't love running right now. The season ends with a 5 k at sugar house park. We all signed up and it ended up being the rainiest day ever! As we were walking from the parking lot to the race the kids already had super drenched feet. Alana kept saying she had trench foot, lol!
Lizzie was not super thrilled!
She did cheer up after we got to put stickers all over her race bib and face.
Here is Alana and her friend Olive who she did the program with.
Brett ran the race and ended up being in the very front. He had a police escort to clear the way as he came through. He was kinda embarrassed about winning since it was a race of elementary school girls. But he did awesome and it meant a lot that he came to support his sister. Also he won and that was super fun! The race consisted of 2 loops around the park. Lizzie and I opted to just do one loop =)
I helped either a funeral for a sweet baby that passed away later that afternoon and it was such a special and sacred experience. They decorated the gym to look like clouds.
A student who has been super difficult this year gave me a venus flytrap plant which was so sweet. I grew to love each of my students so much!
Note from Lizzie's 4th grade teacher. We loved Ms. Beliston!
Alana graduated from Elementary school and I had some tears as I said goodbye to being in the same building as her. I think the thing that drove me to go work in the school in the first place was to be with my kids so its a little hard for me that they are moving on. I am so proud of all she did this year with student council and sticking it out with a difficult teacher. I am so excited for her to go to middle school. I think she will thrive there!
Lizzie wore a snuggie almost every day this year and it is just so fun! She is the best and I am so proud of all the hard work she put into school and speech this year!

Brett got straight A's and rocked middle school. He got involved in NJHS, band, Alps, AP human geography and Track. It was such a wonderful three years for him and he is super excited to go to the high school next year! I can't wait to see what he learns and how he grows! He got to go to 9th grade Lagoon day and loved that and he is spending tons of time with friends.
