We were all hungry and decided to go ahead and get the BBQ started. Bratwurst, hamburgers, hotdogs, and onion rings-mmmmmm!
After the food party, we viewed the fifth Harry Potter movie in preparation for July 15! What better way to celebrate Independence from Great Britain than to watch a Brittish movie:-)
We then turned on some patriotic tunes and made some apple cobbler in the Dutch Oven. While it was cooking Sean and I decided we needed fireworks so we ran to the stand and bought a fantastic package with some pretty spiffy fireworks.
We ate cobbler, hung some pictures in the newly painted family room, and played a game called Pandemic (which Sean loved). Sadly Sam was tired so the Browns loaded up and headed back to P-town while the Petersons and Zaelits headed outside for a lovely fire. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Also, there must have been a wasp nest under the fire pit because wasps kept coming out the bottom and flying all around us. It was quite horrifying and luckily they stopped after about ten minutes, I think their nest must have boiled with all the heat.
About nine, we headed out front to light our fireworks. Luckily all our neighbors decided it was a good time too, so we got to enjoy lots of illegal fireworks flying through the air. As beautiful as they were, our little fireworks were the best I have ever seen. Sean and I took turns lighting the fireworks under Dad's direction, since neither of us has ever done it before.
It was a wonderful fourth of July

Looks like it was a fun-filled and sparkly day for everybody!
ReplyDeleteIt looks and sounds like you had an absolute blast. Also, I'm very happy that you did have fireworks, because the 4th of July without fireworks is like honey without peanut butter, or ham and cheese without the cheese. Just not done.
ReplyDeleteJennie, you know that blue shirt you're wearing in the picture? I miss borrowing that shirt. I miss you too, but I hadn't forgotten that. I had forgotten about that shirt until just now. Dang.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fantastic shirt:) I miss your clothes too!!
