All done!

We have been trying to teach Brett the sign for “all done” for months. The sign is made by doing this kinda jazz hand thing, Brett started doing this several months ago by waving his hands up and down. He started getting really good around his birthday and signing that he was all done after a meal. This week he has started using the sign for other things. He told Sean he was all done with reading books. He told me he was all done with the game on the i-pad. He told Sean he was all done with the bedtime routine the other night. He tells us when he is all done with any portion of his meal. Its really cute to see him communicating so well. We have also tried to teach him a few other signs but he hasn’t been too interested. Yesterday, he grabbed my hand and walked me to the fridge and started rubbing his tummy (the sign Sean has been trying to teach him for hungry) and when I asked him if he was hungry he got excited. After a nap yesterday I took him to the fridge and asked him if he wanted some milk while making the sign and he made the sign back to me and then guzzled his milk. It is so fun to see him learning and growing so much everyday. He has also started saying ssshssh for fish and when I asked him to go get his Star Wars book from his bedroom yesterday he went toddling in there and came back holding his Star Wars book.

He has been kinda a picky eater lately which is frustrating to me. Sean assures me regularly that he will eat when he’s hungry but its hard when he eats one bite of dinner and then says he’s all done. He tried some hot chocolate when he got out of the tub the other night because he was shivering-so sad! He loved the hot chocolate though and requested a refill immediately.

Something that is very different about having a toddler as opposed to a baby is that we have to have outings and activities everyday. It gets a little overwhelming to try to come up with new, exciting, and free activities all the time. Especially now that the weather is getting a little colder. We do love going to the park, library, hotdog truck at the mall, and pretty much anywhere else. The other morning we went up to the Albuquerque Temple to walk around the grounds. Brett especially loved the fountain. He also enjoyed the rocks and flowers, also there are stars on top of the temple which he was very excited about.

Also, my boys are sick. Poor Sean was up all night throwing up with an achey stomach. Brett has been clingy, whiny, fever, and has had diareah for two days. Poor guys, I hope they feel better soon. Today Sean stayed home from school and Brett decided that he needed to snuggle on the couch with his dad.

He is also a major ham for the camera!
