Spring Adventures Part 1: Traveling and Downtown Disney!

Our little family has just returned from an epic 10 day vacation where we passed through 6 states and stayed in 3 of them. It was a ton of fun! Here is the story of the first bit of our trip.

On Sunday the 10th we went to church and then as soon as Sean got home from Choir practice we hopped in the car and headed for Flagstaff, AZ. We stayed in a really nice Days Inn hotel on Route 66. It was further from the free way, but we got a really nice room for $50! Brett had a hard time understanding that we were going to sleep there and it took him 45 minutes of crying while Sean and I hid on the other side of the bed for him to go to sleep=( He was pretty happy to play in his bed though!

He fell asleep and slept all through the night! They had a delicious continental breakfast where Brett made friends with all the people around us. We were back on the road by 8 AM. Here is Brett and Sean getting in a good morning stretch:IMG_4698-2013-03-20-12-31.JPG

We drove to Anaheim on Monday and arrived around 4 after weaving our way through crazy California traffic. Brett did an amazing job in the car and even learned a few new animal sounds while we were driving. IMG_4708-2013-03-20-12-31.JPGIMG_4701-2013-03-20-12-31.JPGIMG_4709-2013-03-20-12-31.JPG

We went to Downtown Disney for dinner and shopping on Monday night. We ate at the Jazz Kitchen Express which was so yummy. I had a cheeseburger and fries and Sean had a meat pie. Brett got some french bread and we got an order of beignets for dessert. Brett very much approved of the powdered sugar coating!IMG_4723-2013-03-20-12-31.JPG

There is a fantastic store in Downtown Disney called Ride Makers that is similar to Build a Bear. You get to build a custom car. The cars are really fun, but a bit pricey. We’ll save that purchase till he’s a little older. He did love looking in the store and he especially loved driving the model cars around. We enjoyed looking through the big World of Disney store and then we walked back to the hotel. We stayed in the Jolly Rodger hotel which is in walking distance to the parks and was a great deal. It was very comfortable and quiet and safe. I thought the decor was cute, my Grandma disagreed when I showed her pictures!IMG_4713-2013-03-20-12-31.JPGIMG_4869-2013-03-20-12-31.JPGIMG_4870-2013-03-20-12-31.JPG

Notice Sean’s legs as he is helping Mr. Brett get a bath. IMG_4873-2013-03-20-12-31.JPG

And here is Brett all clean, drinking his milk, wearing his Lightning McQueen, having no clue that the next day he was going to Cars Land!

It only took him 30 min of screaming this night to get to sleep. Sean and I hung out in the bathroom area and watched Once Upon a Time on Hulu.
